Invitation email didn't arrive

Diagnose and fix the most common reasons an Organization invitation never lands in your inbox.

May 21, 2026

If an Organization admin invited you to Vulgate and the email never arrived, here's the quick checklist — followed by what to do if none of the obvious fixes work.

1. Wait 5 minutes, then check spam

Invitations are usually delivered within 30 seconds, but sometimes take a couple of minutes during high-traffic periods. Look in Spam, Junk, and (in Gmail) the Promotions tab. Search for subject:Vulgate or from:vulgate.ai.

If you find it in spam, mark Not spam so future emails arrive normally.

2. Confirm the inviter typed the right address

The single most common cause is a typo on the inviter's side. Ask the admin who invited you to:

  1. Open Settings → Org settings → Pending invitations.
  2. Find the row with what should be your email.
  3. Verify the spelling and the domain (@longbeard.com vs @longbeard.co, etc.).
  4. If wrong, click the three-dot menu and choose Delete invite, then re-invite with the correct address.

3. Ask the admin to resend

If the address is correct, ask the admin to Resend invitation from the same Pending invitations row. Sometimes a fresh send gets through where the first one was caught by a transient filter.

4. Check email-domain restrictions

If the Organization has an email-domain restriction in place (set by the Owner under Org Settings), only addresses on the allow-list can be invited. If your email isn't on the list, the admin will see a clear error when inviting; if it succeeds and you still don't get the email, the domain isn't the issue.

5. Try signing up directly with the invited address

As a last resort, sign up at vulgate.ai/auth/signup using the exact email address you were invited to. Once you confirm your email, open the invitation link the admin sent you (or ask them to resend) to accept.

This works because invitations are scoped to the email, not to a user. As soon as an account exists for that email, the invitation can be claimed.

6. Corporate filtering

If you're on a @company.com or @school.edu address, your IT department's spam filter may be holding the email. Ask IT to whitelist vulgate.ai and our sending domain mg.vulgate.ai (Mailgun). Use a personal Gmail address in the meantime if you need access quickly.

8. Contact us

If none of the above works, email info@vulgate.ai with:

  • The Organization name you're trying to join.
  • Your email address.
  • The approximate time the invitation was sent.

We can look up the delivery log and either re-send, send a recovery link directly, or work with the admin to invite a different address.
